Featuring past and present members of Abiotic, Scale the Summit, Unaligned, Shroud of Bereavement, Dreaded Silence and Voraath, Visitant are a recent entry to that faction of extremists who choose to stir infernal rawness, lush orchestration and textbook technicality on the sonic mixing palette. The sticker on their upcoming debut album might read “For fans of Gojira, Opeth, Naglfar, and Between the Buried and Me,” but we prefer the way drummer Anthony Lusk-Simone put it when he accurately and hilariously described the band as “Imagine Dimmu and UADA being smashed together like action figures during recess.”
On the topic of said forthcoming debut, it’s entitled Rubidium, which the dictionary informs is “a silver-white, metallic, active element resembling potassium, used in photoelectric cells and radio vacuum tubes.” It also features seven songs that “explore(s) themes of grief, loss, betrayal, vengeance, time lost, and regret” while showcasing the band’s “ability to transcend genre boundaries,” and is set for release via Exitus Stratagem Records. Today, we’re giving you an opportunity to give it a whirl in advance of its official release tomorrow. Says bassist Kilian Duarte about their first full-length foray: “Rubidium is an album that we hope you will all enjoy start to finish. We wanted to make this record flow in such a way that we take you on a journey through its brutal landscapes.” Adds vocalist Chelsea Marrow: “This is an album that stemmed from a lot of personal grievances. Through hardships and lineup changes, we finally completed Rubidium. Created from the soul and outward. We are so proud of this! Thank you to everyone who stuck by us through this journey. Your support means everything.”
